The OCT Ensemble explores different ways of making music - combining art forms, pushing boundaries, and offering ‘out of the box’ musical experiences that interest and excite, and grow our connections across the wider community.
Performances and collaborations have included:
- He Pu, He Puora, He Purakau – a seed, an instrument, a story, combining the world of Taonga Puoro with the traditions of the orchestra, featuring Horomona Horo and Jeremy Mayall.
- Music in the Round, an evening of intimate music that included the New Zealand premier of Symphonic Chocolates, a work composed in Hamilton, Ontario.
- Handel’s Messiah with the always impressive Hamilton Civic Choir.
OCT Ensemble has taken music to Kawhia - the first orchestra to visit the town in 100 years, Te Awamutu and Whitianga, and has performed pop-up concerts at Te Awa The Base, Hamilton.
