If you play an orchestral instrument, then we’d like to hear from you!
Each orchestra has a different process for new players, so please complete the information below, indicating which orchestra you are interested in and your instrument/level of playing, and we will respond as soon as possible.
- OPUS ORCHESTRA and OPUS ENSEMBLE comprise professional players, and auditions may be required.
- TWSO caters for adult players at Grade 6 and up.
- YOW accepts players age 12-18, (students outside of this age range are encouraged to talk to us about how they can be involved). Musicians are at Grade 5 and above. Students under 12, or of Grade 4 and below are able to join the Sinfonia, currently operating at the Hamilton Community Centre of Music on Saturday mornings.
- Rusty Players is open to adult players of all abilities.
If you are a student at the University of Waikato there is also opportunity to take part in the Employability Plus Programme (EPP) – a new initiative that gives students the opportunity to gain work-ready skills through volunteer activity. Students will get recognised for the extra work that they do and stand out when they are job hunting by gaining the practical skills and experience sought by prospective employers. Volunteering is one of three modules that the programme will offer. Students will also take part in personal development workshops and contribute to the University in a variety of ways. Students can apply for those positions directly online.
