Happy birthday, #NZSO - 74 looks good on you.🥳🎉🎂 Today's our birthday – we're 74 years young!
Here's a photo from our very first concert, 6 March 1947 in the Wellington Town Hall with conductor Andersen Tyrer.

And what a programme it was: Dvořák's Carnival Overture, Brahms' Symphony No.2, Butterworth's A Shropshire Lad, Rumanian Rhapsody No. 1 by Enesco, Wagner's "Prelude" and "Love's Death" from Tristan and Isolde, all closed out with Strauss' Till Eulenspiel.

Looking forward to our diamond jubilee next year, we've got some good stuff cooking...
