Poetry reading by Cian Parker

Evoking our place, experience an immersive and intimate connection with well-known nature inspired music and a new work by University of Waikato's own composer, Michael Williams. Poetry by Hone Tuwhare, Denis Glover and Dinah Hawken is interwoven throughout.

"We have two familiar works written for small instrumental ensemble - Aaron Copland’s ballet Appalachian Spring and Camille Saint-Saens Carnival of the Animals - which both complement and contrast with each other very well. Copland’s prize-winning music illustrates the story of a pioneer celebration in America’s Pennsylvania hills during the early 1800’s. Carnival of the Animals is a brilliantly imaginative and often humorous fantasy of fourteen short pieces depicting a range of animals (some human!)." Rupert D’Cruze
