Kotahi Te Wairua with Opus Orchestra and Kapa Haka.
This groundbreaking concert is presented with support from Creative NZ.
A new work, commissioned by Orchestras Central, and composed by Stephen Small, who will also conduct the concert, ‘Te Miha’ is a setting of the Latin Mass in Te Reo.
Kotahi Te Wairua is a Te Reo Maori group from Auckland comprising songwriters Gail Tipene, Sharon Emirali, Anthony and Stephen Small, whose recently released album retells the myth of Ranginui and Papatuanuku and the emergence of the Gods of the natural Maori world.
This dynamic, multi discipline performance will be in two parts:
Concert Part one: Waikato kapa haka, Kotahi Te Wairua and orchestra will present their treatment of the myth of Ranginui and Papatuanuku.
Concert Part two: Te Miha – Kotahi Te Wairua with Opus Orchestra, Kapa Haka and soloists – A setting of the Latin Mass incorporating the Te Reo Maori translation known as Te Miha and the ancient Latin text.
Venues are to be confirmed – save the date for this truly exciting event being toured across our region in September.
