Enderley, Hamilton 3214
Trust Waikato Symphony Orchestra (TWSO) and Cantando Choir are delighted to be able to offer the spine-tingling sensation of over eighty voices and full symphony orchestra to Hamilton audiences for the first time since the closure of Founders Theatre.
The first half of the programme features TWSO with a performance of Bizet’s L’Arlesienne Suite #2. This work has stood the test of time, and as testimony to its popularity, themes from the suite have been dynamically utilized in everything from television programmes to jazz arrangements and video games.
The second half of The Power of Two presents Part 1 of Mendelssohn’s hugely popular Elijah. Very much the Messiah of its day, two thousand people attended the premiere performance. The stunning line-up of vocal soloists includes Elaine Wogan (soprano), Sarah Court (alto), Koli Jayatunge (tenor) and Jarvis Dams (bass), bringing a huge amount of talent and experience to the stage, and introducing boy soprano, Matthew Colvin.
Being part of a live performance of such a large group of singers and musicians is truly a humbling experience. The Power of Two, under Artistic Director and Conductor, Rupert D’Cruze, has a single performance only, on Saturday 11 November, 7.30 pm, at ACTivate Church, Bisley Road. Ticketing information can be found at www.orchestras.org.nz, and door sales will be available. For more information, contact firstname.lastname@example.org, or email@example.com.
